Questions
AC Service & Repair — frequently asked
- How often should an AC be serviced?
- Roughly twice a year with regular use, and once before summer at a minimum. A unit that has not been cleaned in over a year will cool noticeably better afterwards.
- It is not cooling — will a service fix it?
- Often, yes: a clogged filter and a dirty coil are the most common cause. If the pressure reading shows it is low on gas, or a part has failed, your technician will tell you what it needs and what it costs before doing anything.
- How long does one unit take?
- About an hour for a standard split or window unit. Book extra hours for more than one unit, or if there is a fault to diagnose as well.
- Do you service all brands?
- Cleaning and servicing, yes, for standard split and window units. Sealed inverter electronics and anything still under manufacturer warranty should go to the brand's own service — opening it can void the warranty.
